Class Notes: Women of the Caribbean: Literature, Art, and Resistance,This seminar explores how women in the Caribbean use fiction writing and visual/performing arts to make their voices heard about prevailing issues in the Caribbean islands and territories, but also on a global scale. These issues can be (but not limited to): colonialism, misogyny, racism, climate change, body autonomy, the legacies of slavery, and female solidarity. While we will focus primarily on French speaking zones: Haiti, Martinique, Guadeloupe and Guyane; we will also venture in other English-speaking or Spanish-speaking territories thanks to the speakers that will visit our class (in these specific cases, the readings and discussions could be either in English or in French depending on the speaker's preferred language).
